‘Daydream’ gets the go ahead for 2012!
The 2012 Alresford Music Festival will be held at a new venue this year, thanks to New Alresford Town Council backing. Still conveniently located centrally in the town, the festival will be held at Arlebury Park on 9 June, a little earlier in the calendar than last year’s event.
This year the organisers, keen to keep the festival fresh and vibrant, are proud to present 'Daydream' a one day event for all the family. Festival originator Ken Veitch commented on the new look festival, "It's a great opportunity for the festival to push forward and develop. It'll be the third year the festival has run and the new venue will allow us more flexibility with the format".
Alresford based IT solutions company First Option, which has supported the event since its inception in 2010, is this year weighing in even more heavily. Managing Director Tim Considine and his team are fully funding the 2012 event, which enables all the proceeds from the tickets sales to be donated to charity. This magnificent gesture is great news for the event itself and for Alresford, as the core ethos behind the festival can now be realised and local charities will now see the full benefit of all ticket sales.
This year’s festival will increase in size to host three stages, two of which will be under cover to counter any potential weather issues, and festival favourites 'Hattie Jacques’ Playlist' will headline the main stage. This year the “Hatties” will add full orchestral support to their legendary horn section.
The three stages will showcase an eclectic mix of music, the skillful and original blending of which is a festival trademark. The organisers are planning to stir in everything from rock, indie and blues through to jazz, folk and this year the exciting addition of a dance tent.
The music festival will also be supported by circus acts, a large big top beer tent and many additional food stalls catering for all tastes and appetites. The reputation of the Alresford Music Festival as a great family day out will continue in 2012 with much more children's entertainment to enjoy, with lots on offer to encourage kids to have-a-go.
Earlybird ticket prices have been kept low for the second year running and an adult ticket is still only £15 for the day, with under 18s and concessions only £10 with children under 9 free. The 2012 festival will be a wonderful family event and a great finale to a week of Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Alresford.
