Stories in Stone
Winchester is a city with a long and interesting history that we can see every time we walk down the high street – in the buildings, statues and other remains of the past. We walk past this testimony to history every day, but this history has very little impact on us. We each have our own histories we relate to the city – we can walk down the road and find memories in the buildings around us. Stories in Stone draws on memories of the city from the residents of the city as well as the performers to create a tapestry of lived experiences tied together by the architecture of Winchester.

Top Hat Competition
Students from the University of Winchester compete for a chance to win the opportunity to be mentored by Hat Fair Director Andrew Loretto and Engagement Producer Katrina Henderson, to develop a new show to be performed at Hat Fair 2020! They will be previewing their work at Alresford Music Festival. We are thrilled to be working with Hat Fair to enable this to happen.

“Hat Fair is proud to support local talent through the Top Hat competition – the first winner of which was Martin Jakeman at Hat Fair 2018.Through our new partnership with Alresford Music Festival we can extend opportunities to local emerging talent from University of Winchester to develop and perform their work.”
Andrew Loretto, Director of Hat Fair

We know you’ll enjoying seeing and supporting these young people as they perform, entertain and gain valuable experience in front of you – our AMF festival family.
